Accounting Assistant- Columbia, MD

• CFS is partnering with a non profit, in business for over 50 years, to find an Accounting Assistant to join their team! This candidate should be comfortable with AP, AR, billing, collections, and journals.
  • This position will begin on a contractual basis and become permanent for the selected candidate depending on performance and fit

• This role will begin immediately for the selected candidate
• Position is 100% in office in Columbia, MD
  • 9am-5pm M-F 40 hours per week
  • Candidates must be local to the area and have reliable transportation

Job Duties of the Accounting Assistant:

• Manage all invoices and prepare all check requests
• Maintain up to date documentation
• Update the daily incoming checks log
• Make copies for AP check for programs folders to support invoices
• Prepare all AP checks for mailing and file AP checks in filing folders for audit
• Prepare monthly deposits folders for future audits
• Prepare monthly reports for approval
• Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries funding balances
• Support duties related to accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Assist Staff Accountant when needed
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications for the Accounting Assistant:

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar field required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
• 1+ years' accounting experience
• Experience using QuickBooks highly preferred
• Strong Excel skills
• Must have COVID vaccination or valid exemption and be able to pass a background check and drug screening
