Experienced Automotive Corporate Controller / Assistant CFO needed for stable dealership accounting office in the Brooklyn, NY market. The Corporate Controller will run the day-to-day accounting operations and will work closely under the long-term CFO to learn their role and be the successor. The successful candidate will have a proven track record as an Automotive Corporate Controller (or multi-store Controller) at a new car dealership and be looking for a long-term opportunity as this is a low-turnover office with a great team in place. This person will be responsible for closing out the month-end for more than one dealership, with clean books, in a timely fashion. Experience on Reynolds and Reynolds is a big plus, but not mandatory. The Corporate Controller / Assistant CFO hired will be responsible for submitting the month-end financial statement to the factory, reconciliations, reporting, expense analysis, assisting in audits, and analyzing and interpreting financial data among other tasks. The Controller will be responsible for managing the accounting team on a day-to-day basis and is expected to be a resource to their team - training, developing, and holding them accountable. It is important that this person is a positive leader, clear communicator, and someone who promotes and maintains a positive work environment. Responsibilities: Help to oversee, maintain, and improve the financial well-being of the dealership. Prepare timely and accurate financial statements; monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and reporting including, but not limited to, intercompany transactions and balances and reporting to manufacturers. Maintain positive relationships and open communication with the Dealer Principal. Understand and maximize benefits from manufacturer incentive programs and payment structures, work with GMs to achieve results, and ensure the team is current on program rules. Manage accounting team on a daily basis; working to maintain a positive and performance-oriented work environment and collaborative team environment. Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems/processes for financial controls and performance. Monitor and analyze monthly operating expenditures against budget to identify expense and gross profit opportunities. Ensure all store transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and procedures. Complete monthly commission workbooks, have a strong understanding of individual pay plans and commissions. Review and analyze parts monthly/annual reconciliation. Dealership vehicle inventory – review and reconcile physical to GL. Maintain accounting schedules. Assist the CFO on special projects as needed. Expense Analysis. Assist in the annual budgeting process. Assist in audits (floor plan, sales tax, manufacturer) and year-end review. Internal controls – implement and ensure the store follows the internal control process. Work closely with other department managers to achieve store goals. Schedule: 5 day work week. Compensation: Compensation package will be in $150,000 - $200,000 range depending on experience level and track record. Compensation will commensurate with experience level.
