Our Corporate Marketing & Branding department is seeking a Creative Services Director to oversee our in-house team of graphic, motion and production designers and photographers, guiding both creative vision and operational excellence.

Corporate Marketing & Branding aims to position Great American Insurance Group as a market leader through impactful marketing, cohesive branding and meaningful communication strategies that help drive premium growth, optimize our Business Units’ marketing initiatives and foster employee engagement. Our team consists of brand champions, strategic business partners and marketing, communications and design experts who serve our 35+ business units.

About the Role

As the Creative Services Director , you will lead the creative strategy and execution for the Great American Insurance Group brand, ensuring visual content aligns with organizational objectives and resonates with our audiences. You will be responsible for shaping the team’s workflows, managing resources (including people, software and budgets) and driving brand consistency. This individual will work a hybrid schedule from the Cincinnati office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visionary Leadership : Manage and inspire a team of multidisciplinary professionals, cultivating a culture of collaboration and creative excellence. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with design team members, providing mentorship, performance feedback and fostering professional growth.
  • Strategic Execution: Develop and implement creative strategies that push creative boundaries and enhance brand positioning across digital, print and multimedia platforms.
  • Operational Oversight: Use project management tool to manage day-to-day creative production schedules, ensuring timely delivery and resource optimization while overseeing assignments, service levels, and project timelines.
  • Process Optimization: Refine workflows to improve efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness, balancing competing priorities while maintaining creative excellence.
  • Brand Governance: Champion brand standards while fostering a culture of collaboration and creative problem-solving. Ensure consistency and quality across all creative outputs, while adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between creative teams and business units, shared services and department leadership, aligning creative initiatives with business goals, corporate objectives and brand identity.
  • Vendor & Budget Management: Oversee relationships with internal and external vendors and ensure creative operations stay within budget.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain proficiency in industry-standard tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office, while staying current with production standards, emerging trends and design best practices.
  • Executive Consultation: Provide insights, guidance and recommendations to senior leadership on brand strategy, market positioning and methods to refine corporate identity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Graphic Design, Fine Art or a related discipline)
  • Generally 10+ years of experience leading creative teams in a corporate or agency setting, with a strong foundation in creative production processes. Ability to conceptualize and guide high-impact creative projects from ideation to execution.
  • Deep understanding of brand management, design principles and multimedia production.
  • Strong expertise in process optimization, workflow improvement and change management.
  • Exceptional leadership and team development skills with a passion for mentoring creative talent.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office. Experience in Kantata or other related software is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective collaborator with a talent for fostering strong relationships. Skilled in presenting and championing creative ideas to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with the application of Gen AI in design a plus.

Scope of Job:

Manages a team of graphic, motion and production designers, as well as photographers. Contributes to the development of strategies, performance targets, and policies and procedures.

  • Requires continuous use of computer.
  • May lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Requires regular and predictable attendance (required to work in our Cincinnati office location at least 3 days/week).
