This position is considered office-first. An office-first employee can flex between in-office work and working from home based on personal or professional need, at the discretion of their supervisor. An office-first employee maintains an office presence at least three days per week at their designated Scooter’s Coffee office location. Scooter’s Coffee is headquartered in Omaha, NE. The successful candidate lives in Omaha, NE. Relocation is not available for this role.

Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in optimizing our data infrastructure, integrating multiple data sources, and ensuring data quality across various systems. You will lead efforts in streamlining ETL processes, enhancing data warehouses, and implementing automated workflows to meet the evolving needs of our organization. Your expertise in Azure tools, combined with a strong understanding of best practices for data management, will drive the success of our data-driven initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enhance ETL processes, SQL databases, and data warehouses to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Responsible for identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks, improving data access, and ensuring systems are scalable for future growth.
  • Drive the integration of data from various sources using Azure Data Factory. Automate workflows and data processing tasks using Azure Runbooks and Azure App Services, improving data pipeline efficiency and streamlining manual processes.
  • Oversee the consistency, integrity, and accuracy of data across systems. You will work closely with business and technical teams to maintain high data quality standards and ensure the reliability of insights derived from our data.
  • Guide the evolution of the company’s data infrastructure by staying ahead of emerging technologies and best practices. Ensure the design and architecture of systems are flexible and scalable to meet the growing demands of the business.
  • Partner with both business and technical teams to understand organizational goals and translate them into actionable data solutions.
  • Gather and capture key business requirements to build scalable, efficient, and impactful data solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce comprehensive documentation for data systems, ensuring data management, security, and automation processes follow industry best practices.
  • Establish standardized processes for data governance, data quality, and documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2-4+ years of related experience in similar field
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with a focus on data pipeline optimization, integration, and automation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Runbooks, and Azure App Services.
  • Expertise in SQL and relational database management, as well as experience with cloud-based data solutions.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with data quality tools and data governance practices.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data integration, and data pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to present complex data concepts in an easy-to-understand manner for non-technical stakeholders.
