Employment Type: Full time (40+ hours per week)

Location: In-office in Webb City, MO

Kid Spark Education is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering all children, especially those from underserved and underrepresented communities, to learn and love STEM. We develop innovative STEM learning programs and solutions, share them with schools and informal learning providers across the country, and support educators as they mentor the next generation of inventors, leaders, and creative problem solvers.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Marketing & Communications is responsible for increasing awareness of Kid Spark’s products, programs, and mission through strategic marketing and compelling storytelling. This role will develop and implement marketing and communication strategies that effectively engage educators, philanthropic partners, and other key stakeholders while driving both sales growth and fundraising support.

This position requires a seamless integration of content creation and strategic marketing. The Director will oversee the continuous development and distribution of engaging content—including videos, graphics, blogs, email campaigns, and more—while ensuring that marketing efforts across multiple channels are optimized to maximize engagement and reach. They will also manage SEO, digital advertising, and CRM-driven marketing efforts, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve performance.

The ideal candidate is both a creative content leader and a strategic marketing expert—someone who can develop compelling content while simultaneously executing and refining multi-channel marketing campaigns to increase visibility, attract new audiences, and expand Kid Spark’s impact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan to drive brand awareness, product sales, and fundraising support.
  • Maintain a marketing calendar and oversee content production timelines , ensuring campaigns and projects are completed efficiently. Manage relationships with contractors, freelancers, and external vendors as needed to scale marketing efforts.
  • Lead multi-channel campaigns , including email marketing, paid and organic social media, SEO, and digital advertising. Track, analyze, and optimize performance using data-driven insights.
  • Oversee content creation and storytelling , managing the production of videos, graphics, blogs, email campaigns, and other materials to effectively communicate Kid Spark’s mission and impact. Ensure all content is engaging, professional, and aligned with brand messaging.
  • Manage and optimize SEO, Google Ads, PPC, and social media advertising to increase reach, drive traffic, and improve conversions. Stay current with platform algorithms and digital marketing trends to refine strategies.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all marketing channels, promotional materials, and communications. Develop messaging frameworks for press releases, organizational updates, and brand storytelling.
  • Create communication assets to support fundraising efforts , including donor outreach, grant applications, and partnership reports. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compelling messaging for key stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL

  • College degree in marketing, communications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans that drive engagement and organizational growth.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills with experience creating clear, engaging, and professional content.
  • Demonstrated experience in social media marketing, including paid campaigns, ad management, and analytics across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.
  • Proficiency in Google Ads, Google Analytics, SEO.
  • Proficiency in HubSpot CRM , email marketing, and audience segmentation.
  • Experience overseeing video and photo content production.
  • Deep understanding of current marketing trends, social media algorithms, and platform-specific best practices.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently. Highly organized with experience managing production schedules and workflows.
  • Experience in education, philanthropy, or nonprofit communications is a plus.

COMPENSATION PACKAGE

  • Salary: Commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: 100% employee covered health and dental insurance. Option to add dependents at employee’s cost. New full-time employees will accrue 160 hours of vacation (20 days) annually.
