Job Description
The Mechanical Design Engineer Intern will work with the Mechanical Engineering team designing mechanical aspects of various automation and tooling projects. The Mechanical Design Engineer Intern will work closely with senior engineering staff to help support design efforts as well as support other engineering staff on projects. These projects will generally be interdisciplinary, and the engineer will work with other members of the team to deliver an integrated and functional solution.
How You Will Make a Difference: - 3D CAD and drawing creation
- Supporting engineering staff
- Building and testing of prototypes
- Working with interdisciplinary teams on controls and software integration
- Working with production and manufacturing to understand challenges and update models
You Have: - Experience using SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software
- Exposure to engineering drawings and tolerances
- Exposure to GD&T, Y14.5M-2009
- Some knowledge of materials and fabrication processes (machining, welding, etc.)
- Exposure to controls and software concepts
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with pneumatic components and systems
- Some experience sizing and specifying actuators, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripherals
- 1+ years in a mechanical design role, in an industrial automation and/or machine building environment
- Understanding of CE, NFPA 79, and SEMI S8 compliance
- Experience in tooling design
- Experience in troubleshooting automated equipment
Physical Demands: Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.•
Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.•
Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.
Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
VISUAL ACUITY: Near acuity with or without accommodation.
HEARING Ability: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose.
