About the Role:

The Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the front office at Middlesex Monmouth Gastroenterology in Freehold, NJ. This position is responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate patient records, which are essential for providing high-quality healthcare services. The Medical Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for patients, creating a welcoming environment and addressing inquiries with professionalism and empathy. Additionally, this role involves coordinating with medical staff to facilitate efficient patient flow and ensure that all administrative tasks are completed accurately and timely. Ultimately, the Medical Receptionist contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and the operational success of the practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Experience with billing and insurance verification processes.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
• Previous experience in a gastroenterology or specialty medical practice.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
• Manage appointment scheduling and patient check-in/check-out processes.
• Maintain and update patient records and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
• Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information about services.
• Coordinate with healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient flow and communication.

Skills:

The required skills for this position, such as strong organizational abilities and attention to detail, are essential for managing patient records and ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date. Excellent communication skills are utilized daily when interacting with patients, answering their questions, and providing them with necessary information about their appointments and services. Preferred skills, such as knowledge of medical terminology, enhance the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers and understand patient needs.
