Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in York, PA. The Sr Director of Marketing & Communications will oversee all marketing, branding, public relations, and communications efforts to drive customer engagement, sales growth, and brand visibility across multiple platforms. This role will work closely with the Category Managers to ensure consistent and compelling in-store, digital and print messaging. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role, preferably in retail or the convenience store industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools (Google Analytics, social media platforms, email marketing software, etc.).
  • Experience with budget management and performance tracking.
  • The ability to think creatively and strategically to solve challenges and create impactful marketing initiatives.
  • Familiarity with retail environments and consumer behavior in the convenience store sector.
  • Knowledge of the convenience store industry and consumer trends.
  • Experience with loyalty programs or customer retention initiatives.

R esponsibilities

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies that drive traffic to stores and online engagement.
  • Identify and execute campaigns targeting both new and loyal customers.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to optimize marketing campaigns and measure their success (ROI).
  • Lead the development and execution of a strong, consistent brand identity that resonates with Rutter’s target audience.
  • Ensure the brand image is consistently represented in-store, through digital channels, and in all external communications.
  • Plan and execute bimonthly promotional marketing campaigns, including fuel discounts, loyalty programs, events.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for co-branded promotions to enhance customer experience.
  • Oversee the creation of all marketing pieces; in-store signage and TV’s, digital, social, billboards and TV.
  • Cultivate relationships with local media, influencers, and industry organizations to enhance Rutter’s reputation and visibility.
  • Lead and manage digital marketing strategies across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), ensuring they align with the overall marketing goals.
  • Utilize SEO, email marketing, and paid digital advertising (Google Ads, social media ads) to promote in-store deals, loyalty programs, and new products.
  • Oversee the monitoring and engagement of customer feedback on social media platforms and customer ticketing system, addressing customer inquiries and concerns in real-time.
  • Collaborate with store managers to ensure that marketing efforts are aligned with the in-store experience.
  • Develop internal communication tools and initiatives to keep staff informed of new marketing campaigns and product promotions.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget including vendor funding, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize ROI.
  • Regularly track and report on marketing expenses and campaign performance.
  • Responsible for the team building, supervision and management of the Marketing team.
  • Maintain up to date marketing SOPs, resource guides and training documentation.
