Job Description
Become a professional hunting dog trainer
Do you love the great outdoors and have a passion for bird hunting and dogs? If so, we might have the perfect opportunity for you! Wings & Whistles Dog Training Facility in Watertown, Minnesota, is on the lookout for a full-time hunting dog trainer to join our team. In this role, you’ll have the chance to train dogs from start to finish using one of our three specialized hunting dog training programs. You'll get to work closely with multiple dogs, tailoring your approach to fit each one in the program. Plus, you’ll build relationships with their owners, keeping in touch before, during, and after the training process, and even leading one-on-one sessions. While working for this small business, you will be involved in kennel maintenance and general dog care duties also. It’s a physically demanding job, but the rewards of seeing your work in action are more than worth it. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience; we're ready to teach you our effective and positive training methods that meet our high standards.
Here's a little about us: Wings & Whistles has been a trusted name in hunting dog training since 1987. Our unique training methods have consistently resulted in well-behaved hunting dogs that also make great family companions. Our reputation has grown strong over the years, offering a sense of security and stability in your new role with us.
To thrive here, you’ll need a strong work ethic and a keen eye for spotting subtle changes in canine behavior. Experience in hunting and having your own dog is important. Patience, good communication skills, and a considerate approach to both people and dogs are key. We value a positive and respectful work environment—no tempers or impatience here! You might need to work some weekends and holidays therefore good time management will help you balance your responsibilities with both the dogs and their owners effectively.
As part of our small, unique team, you'll enjoy competitive pay with raises based on merit. We're proud of our friendly, low-key atmosphere where everyone is happy doing what they love. We offer a fantastic 3% gross pay 401k contribution after you meet certain criteria, paid vacation, and bonuses when possible. If the role is a great fit, you’ll enjoy job security backed by our excellent reputation. At Wings and Whistles, the team culture is truly the cherry on top, making work a fun and rewarding experience every day.
