Soroc is currently looking for a Mainframe System Programmer for a contract-to-permanent position with a banking client located in Toronto, ON.

Client : Banking

Location: Downtown, Toronto

Onsite Requirement: Every Tuesday and 2nd Friday of the month

Contract duration : 6 months contract to perm

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer with expertise in z/OS and a strong interest in automation . In this role, you will support the ongoing stability, performance, and modernization of our mainframe infrastructure. You will contribute to automating routine operational tasks, optimizing system performance, and supporting key components like DB2 , capacity planning , and overall mainframe health.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer working with z/OS .
• Strong scripting knowledge (e.g., REXX, JCL, CLIST ) and familiarity with automation tools.
• Solid understanding of DB2 , system performance analysis, and capacity management.
• Hands-on experience with mainframe monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON, RMF, SMF).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain IBM z/OS systems , ensuring availability, performance, and security.
• Develop and enhance automation scripts and tools to streamline mainframe operations.
• Support DB2 systems with performance tuning and diagnostics.
• Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and execute capacity planning activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe infrastructure issues.
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and integrate modern technologies.
• Document configurations, procedures, and support knowledge base materials.
